The Austrian soprano Stephanie Pfeffer completed both her soloist’s diploma and her concert diploma at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with distinction, having previously received her bachelor’s degree with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Since graduating she has performed with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Sigiswald Kujiken and Jos van Veldhofen, as well as with orchestras such as L’arpa festante, Capriccio Basel and Stella Matutina and ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent (Philippe Herreweghe) and Ensemble Pygmalion (Raphael Pichon).

Song brings her great joy. She was a finalist in the international song competition “Das Lied”, is a winner of the RNCM Gold Medal and a prizewinner in numerous competitions and scholarships. With her pianist, Jens Fuhr, she recorded her first solo CD in 2019 with songs by F. Schubert, B. Britten and W. Rihm, among others

A further focus is her chamber music work with Ensemble Pícaro, which she co-founded in 2013. The ensemble specialises in historical performance practice and has made a name for itself with unusual concert programmes.

Since June she has also been artistic director of the Festival alte Musik Zürich.
